Hugh’s interest in photography spans 40 years. He is an active member of both Ware PS and Shillington CC and a member of the Arena group of photographers based in the south east of England. He gained the FRPS distinction in 1980 and achieved Master.FIAP in 1993. His main interest is in landscape photography, both in monochrome and colour. His monochrome photography uses either infrared or Kodak Technical Panchromatic film to capture his own interpretation of the subject matter. His colour images range from the open landscape to close intimate studies, reflecting it’s simplicity and capturing gentle harmonies and contrasts in the colour composition.His first book ‘Earthsong’ (ISBN1-873319-19-3) published by Creative Monochrome is a collection of monochrome landscape images with accompanying verse by Adrian Machon. His second book, due for publication in spring 2001, is a workshop manual on infrared photography and features some outstanding portfolios from leading exponents of the medium. He is known throughout the UK as a lecturer and judge and has held personal exhibitions throughout Europe. He leads workshops on infrared photography and landscape workshops in various locations throughout the UK and Ireland.
